Who is breathing retraining for?

Any adult with dysfunctional breathing can reduce stress and boost energy with functional breathing.

Anyone who has concerns about dysfunctional breathing (see FAQs) that as a result is experiencing physical or mental health issues. Or for those looking to boost energy, reduce stress, enhance concentration and increase performance. Improve respiratory fitness for better health outcomes and gain a calmer mind.

Breathwork for Adults

Teenagers with anxiety or mental health issues can benefit from breathwork.

Is your teenager struggling with anxiety or depression, have addictions or emotional regulation issues? I can help your teenager learn to reduce and manage these challenges by using the breath as a tool to quieten the mind and handle unhelpful thoughts. After working in the youth space for many years I am able to connect with young people, establish rapport and trust, and guide them to develop positive self-care strategies, starting with the breath.

Breathwork for Youth

Children with adhd, sleep or concentration issues can be taught breathing techniques to help with sleep.

Is your child a poor sleeper, has difficulty concentrating or unable to regulate their emotions? Buteyko breathing programs are designed to help with ADHD, sleep quality and improve attention. Mouth breathing in children can lead to reduced learning capacity, poor facial development and continue the asthma cycle. Invest in your child’s future by supporting them to develop positive breathing habits. Adult participation required to encourage and role model behaviours.

Breathwork for Children

Individuals looking to increase respiratory fitness or improve performance can do so with breathwork.

Sporting teams or fitness groups

Training sporting groups to improve respiratory fitness using the oxygen advantage intermittent hypoxic hypercapnic training, simulating high altitude training. Learn how breathing through the nose and engaging the diaphragm whilst training can lead to significant improvements in performance outcomes.

Workers experiencing stress, fatigue or panic attacks can learn breathing techniques to support their wellbeing.

Corporate, Gov’t and Not for Profits.

How does breathing retraining work?

If you are a mouth breather, then functional breathing is for you.

Why do we all breathe so differently? Our breathing habits are influenced by lifestyle, environment and genetics, including poor jaw development as children and ongoing dysfunctional breathing habits, including mouth breathing, poor posture (diaphragm) and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea to name a few.

Breathing is the only system in our body that is both automatic and under our control. We can control our own breathing and in doing so influence our physiology and autonomic nervous system to improve our mental health and wellbeing, physical health, and performance.

I will provide information on breathing retraining and respiratory science, addressing breathing pattern disorders and psychosocial elements of dysfunctional breathing (stress and sleep etc). I will then help you to train new biomechanical processes (using the nose and diaphragm) to maximise breathing efficiency and implement breathing practices to optimize biochemical gas exchange in your lungs (carbon dioxide and nitric oxide).

What if you could increase oxygen uptake, improve circulation and reduce blood pressure, unblock the nose, improve sleep, reduce stress and bring more calmness to your life by simply becoming aware of the way you breathe.

I will teach you science-based techniques in functional breathing retraining to influence your physiology and create change in your mind and body.

Using your nose to breath activates the diaphragm and allows for better gas exchange in the lungs.
